Non - English Domains
In most areas of the Internet, a high level of localization
is possible. It is possible to send an email in Chinese
or to view a website in Japanese. However, the Internet
Domain Name System (DNS) is still based on a subset
of the Latin-1 alphabet. Two main efforts are underway
to address this problem: RealNames.com, and the Internationalized
Domain Name System. A new company, neteka, recently
launched another technology to bring multiple alphabets
to domain names. See www.minc.org
for more information on this topic. One of the most successful
developers of multilingual domain name technology is i-DNS.net.
